I know that it is a benchmark test for ELLs. I think that students need to pass it before they can be reclassified. I have administered the test a few times which has writing and speaking components.
CELDT is an assessment given to students who are English Learners. A student is considered to be an English Learner is the language spoken at home is anything other than English.In order to be reclassified as English Proficient, the English Learner must pass three requirements, one of which is passing the CELDT Exam successfully. The exam itself consists of measuring a students' writing, reading comprehension, listening, and speaking abilities. Students are tested every year in the fall until they are reclassified.
